Mortal Kombat was an arcade game put out by Midway. It introduced [[Fatalities]] on it's debut and [[Friendships]] and [[Animalities]] in later games. Controls for the game were pretty simple using High Punch, Low Punch, High Kick, and Low Kick to perform attacks. The game also utilized a Block button not seen in fighting games of the time.

Mortal Kombat also debuted and has created some of the most recognized characters in video games such as [[Sub Zero]], [[Scorpion]], and [[Sonya Blade]].
