To the vast majority of Van Halen fans, Gary Cherone is a punchline. He was the singer on the poorly received Van Halen III album and his vocal performances on the resulting world tour were often inconsistent. However, in Syd Lexia's home state of Massachusetts, Gary Cherone is somewhat of a hero.
