General Information
Ged1928, or Tim in real life, has been a Sydlexia reader since about Christmas of 2007 and joined the forums in April of 2008. His interests are nostalgia, anime, cooking and eating, traditional American music, psychedelia, and collecting. He is 21 years old, putting him right in that meaty curve that seems to be the norm on the SLF. He lives in historic downtown Portsmouth, NH, far enough away from Massachusetts so that he can breath clean air. He loves New England, except that the area he lives in is dominated by yuppies. He lives an hour and 30 minutes from the Classic Arcade Museum, or Funspot.
Tim has been unemployed since August of 2008, and eats homemade bread 2 meals a day, has racked up a huge tab at the pub, and can't smoke any grass because he's got no money.
Games
Tim loves games of all types, but especially video games, card games, and board games.
Anyone who lives in the Portsmouth, NH area is welcome to PM or e-mail Tim about a weekly classic gaming night that I have been trying to organize. Between me and my only active friend, Alex, we have amazing emulation capabilities, and enough USB controllers and X-arcade control panels to be able to have a sweet gaming night. Its just hard to find more people to play with! I can literally emulate every cartridge game every made, every arcade game ever made, plus the earlier cd-rom consoles such as jaguar, saturn, playstation. Anyone who is comfortable with playing games is welcome to contact me, but be forewarned there is some substance abuse involved.
Favorite 10 video games, in no particular order:
- Street Fighter 2 Turbo
- Final Fight
- Secret of Mana
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Final Fantasy 6
- Streets of Rage 2
- Donkey Kong
- Gradius 3
- Mario 64
- Mr. Do!
Favorite non-video games, in no particular order:
- Risk
- Diplomacy
- Magic: The Gathering
- Cribbage
- Texas Hold-em
- Monopoly
- Air Hockey
- Skee-ball
Film and Television
Although he mostly plays games these days, Tim watches a couple movies a week and watches a little television. For movies, he is equally at ease watching classic films such as the 400 blows, The Strange Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, or Rashomon as he is watching childhood favorites and 80's classics such as any Schwarzenegger film, Lethal Weapon, Goonies, or the Road Warrior.
As far as television, Tim will always love Seinfeld, Simpsons through season 12-ish, and King of the Hill, and also enjoys such newer shows as Dexter and Curb your Enthusiasm. He watches more anime than TV though, and considers Lain, Boogiepop Phantom, Gankutsuo, and Wolf's Reign to be his favorites.
Music
Although his tastes are broad, most of what Tim "seriously" listens to is probably not something that any other SLF members enjoy, unfortunately. He has an obsession with old-timey, particularly pre-war blues, hillbilly, ragtime, zydeco, western swing, and "old country"(that means before Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.) He is also a collector of Psychedelia and progressive rock.
For instruments, he plays guitar, synth, harmonica, and a little bit of bass guitar. He also tries to sing, but doesn't have much of a voice.
But in addition to that he also loves 80's metal, underground rap, j-pop and bands that play video game-inspired music.
