The RIAA as a Business

Mission

The RIAA tries to create a business and legal climate that supports and promotes their members' creative and financial vitality. It's members are the record companies. RIAA members create, manufacture and/or distribute approximately 90% of all legitimate sound recordings produced and sold in the United States.

Making the Mission Happen

RIAA works to protect intellectual property rights worldwide and the First Amendment rights of artists; conducts consumer, industry and technical research; and monitors and reviews state and federal laws, regulations and policies.

Certification

The RIAA® also certifies Gold®, Platinum®, Multi-Platinum™, and Diamond sales awards, as well as Los Premios De Oro y Platino™, an award celebrating Latin music sales.

How the Sydlexia Community Feels About the RIAA

I think it is awesome how the RIAA is suing all of those bastards who steal music. Fuck normal people! Long live Lars Ulrich!!! What I love the most about the RIAA is how smart they are. They are able to sue the people who share music from bands they represent while at the same time those artists are becoming more famous due to additional circulation, causing more people to share and be targets for being sued. I wish I was smart enough to make a money making scheme like this.
