Why it took Cameron so long

If you get hit even once before the actual boss battle, you've basically lost the entire battle. And when you get into the actual battle, he seems to have infinite health and it seems like there's no possible way to beat him...until you look up a walkthrough on the internet and beat him in two minutes by using the knife instead of a gun.
